Sometimes the difference between surviving and thriving is a thin line
Not the blue kind, though. We're not about that here.
Well, I’ve survived thus far.
July has been one jam-packed month full of stuff. The first ordeal was getting new flooring installed throughout our house. That may seem like an easy enough task, but it took weeks. I’d even go as far as to say it took months as we started the process back in April, paid for it in May and things didn’t happen until late-June into early July with a lot of fun surprises.
I had to don whatever handyperson cap I had for a few things to avoid additional costs, but there’s still more to do and my back is feeling awful after all the furniture moving that went on. My perhaps vain hope is all the PT I did last year has prepared me to deal with this better than when I hurt my back last year. Hilariously enough, my injury last year came on my kids’ birthday, and this year it flared up a few days before.
The kiddos’ birthday party was the other thing. Having to invite two full kindergarten classes of kids to a park in the middle of a sweltering New Mexico July was always going to be tough. The lead-up wasn’t particularly easy, either. We had to send invites in the last few weeks of school and my fear was they’d get forgotten in the moment and RSVPs were indeed slow to trickle in. In the end, though? There were a lot of kids there. I mean a lot. I’d say it was a success. Until next time, I suppose.
If I owe you a book, know that it’s coming, we’ve just had so much going on here and I promise I’ll get to it this week.
Things slowing down means I can get cracking on Trystero book six, Cracked Palace, though.
I’ve also enjoyed the reactions to the Google AI audiobooks. I’ve written up a blog post explaining how it’s different than your usual text-to-speech stuff and allows authors to create lower cost, reasonable quality audio for those of you who consume books on the go more.
I’ve also added INTERGALACTIC BASTARD into the mix, for those that are interested.
